We met Kevin and Sharon, a lovely couple from Singapore, in Bunaken Islands last october 2015 and they shared with us their experience of the Maldives. This post is about their trip to Lux Resort, in South Ari Atoll
Seems to be a very nice resort, but average snorkeling. Here is what Kevin says about it :
"We went to Lux Maldives at the South Ari Atoll, where Whale Sharks frequent. Sadly we did not see any whale sharks when we were there. wrong season or hide n seek maybe. Nonetheless, Lux Maldives is very beautiful and fun. Its a classy resort with a great concept. Free bicycles. Hidden open bars, treasure hunt bottles with prizes. Stingray feeding.
Fun activities for kids and adults. Gelato and coffee through the day. Water (unlike most resorts in Maldives) is topped up free of charge. The garden rooms were very nice. The way the landscaping was done seperating one room from another, gave you a 'private' beach area.We treated ourselves an upgrade to an overwater at the end of our stay and it was lovely too.
There is no housereef at Lux. Only patches of average snorkeling near the overwater bungalow area. It is very much a nursery for different baby fishes. Their complimentary snorkeling trip out are only average. Poor visibility and not much excitement. The draw of Lux is clearly the Whale Shark safari. Situated at South Ari Atoll, it is closer (and cheaper) to get to whale shark territory than other resorts. Full board guests get much more benefits for the many things-to-do and activities on offer. The whole island is very pretty and fun.Go if you would like to have some quality family funtime. And if you are whale shark hunting. Do note seaplane prices are high.Great place for a holiday but I would not be returning for the fact that snorkeling there was only average."
